Sometimes I miss the days when I would blog several times a week, sharing many aspects of my creative life and my journey as a homeschool mom. Olivia is twenty-five now so it's been a while. But I remember the blog hops and a wonderful feeling of community. The vibrant creative sparks. It was lovely! I say this while recently having made the decision to drastically limit my time spent online, to read more books, walk more forest trails. I need all the energy I can gather to figure out how to be a maker/artist while managing fibromyalgia pain. Screen time feels draining at the moment. Still, I miss those days and was thinking of them and that led to the realization that I haven't updated my space here in a while. Nine months!
Let's see.. how to sum up all that time in one post?
During those months, we unpacked more boxes and settled deeper back home in Virginia. We planted roses and a garden. We learned to can some of the things we grew and some of the fruit from the trees that were here on the land. I experimented more with tinctures and salves, beginning a journey into plant medicine and magic.
My father passed away at the end of November. (My heart hurts just writing that sentence.)
I've been slowly creating in the studio. I finished a few paintings and embroideries. A few large cyanotypes.
But, I think my favorite news to share is that I've been working on my historical mystery novel again, researching the Victorian time period and taking a few online classes on the craft of writing. Fingers crossed that I can stay the course and actually finish it. I have so much doubt sometimes but this story and the characters have held a spot in my heart for so many years now.
This image is from last week in the studio. It was varnishing time for a piece titled: The Owls Brought Gifts Upon Her Return. I'll share more about her story soon. I'm still working on sorting out my thoughts on this one.

There was this embroidery on cyanotype:

And this one: "Fire Snake Swallows the Moon"

This painting...I need to get a better photo. This is while she was in progress...

And this cyanotype:

Thank you for stopping by. xoxo
